P&O Cruises Australia has announced the appointment of Angus Mackay as the home grown cruise line’s first dedicated Key Account Manager to complement its new sales support operation, Flagship Concierge.
An experienced business development manager, Mackay boasts a successful 12-year career with P&O having previously managed the cruise line’s trade relationships across northern New South Wales.
Starting in his new role on 1 December 2020, Mackay will add to his repertoire by growing a portfolio of key trade relationships across Australia, offering a premium level of business development and comprehensive support to travel agent partners.
P&O Cruises Australia Key Account Manager Angus Mackay said he was looking forward to supporting the travel agent community in rebuilding and reinvigorating their businesses to deliver memorable cruise holidays to their valued customers.
“I’m excited about this new role and working with our key trade partners to maximise opportunities when cruising resumes in Australia. I’m also looking forward to seeing Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter welcome their first guests on their maiden voyages from Sydney and Brisbane,” Mr Mackay said.
“This role will be pivotal in giving our key partners the tools and information they need to maximise their P&O sales, and I’m keen to learn even more about their businesses in the interim as we work together towards this day.”
P&O Cruises Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Ryan Taibel said Mackay’s invaluable sales experience and unique qualifications made him a perfect fit for the role, which would be a critical function as the cruise line looked forward to the anticipated resumption of cruising.
“Angus is one of the most respected business development managers in the industry with an unrivalled knowledge of the cruise landscape and outstanding ability to work with partners to understand their needs and challenges,” Mr Taibel said.
“As we look ahead to when the time is right to sail again, Angus will be responsible for gleaning a deep understanding of the unique situation each key agency partner is facing and to understand how P&O can best support and work alongside them to deliver success.”
Mackay will complement P&O Cruises Australia’s recently revamped Flagship Concierge team, based in the Chatswood head office, which will provide first-class support for travel agents as the world returns to the new normal post-COVID-19.
The Flagship Concierge team allows travel agents to go to the heart of the organisation to have their support needs met during this complex and ever-evolving time for the cruise industry.
