P&O Cruises is adding a new edge to its local holiday offerings, with a special cruise to the unique Dark Mofo midwinter festival in Hobart

Sailing from Sydney in June next year on the Pacific Jewel, the six-night cruise will spend three days in Hobart allowing guests to enjoy the art, food, music, light, film and oddities featured in the incredible annual celebration of the dark.

Priced from $599* per person quad share, the cruise includes entry to Tasmania’s iconic Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) which stages the Dark Mofo festival.

On sale May 17, the Dark Mofo cruise is one of the headline acts in P&O’s program update for 2017-18 which features a range of new itineraries and extra cruises.

The cruise line is also serving up its first ever tennis double, with Pacific Aria joining Pacific Explorer to offer roundtrip cruises from Sydney to the popular Australian Open tennis championships in Melbourne in January 2018.  Fares on Pacific Aria’s five-night cruise departing January 17, 2018 start from $799* per person quad share.

In another new sailing for January 2018, Pacific Eden will cruise south from Brisbane on a six-night roundtrip Australia Day cruise. Guests will enjoy a day of spectacular celebrations on Sydney Harbour on January 26, as well as visits to Newcastle and Moreton Island on the cruise which is priced from $1099* per person quad share.

Meanwhile, P&O is expanding in the west, with four more cruises in 2017 including its first ever four-night seabreak to Exmouth from Fremantle. Sailing on Pacific Eden from Fremantle on June 26, 2017, the cruise is priced from $649* per person quad share.

Other extra short break options include a four-night cruise from Fremantle to Busselton, gateway to Margaret River, and a three-night weekend comedy cruise.

Meanwhile, travellers with more time will be able to enjoy a spectacular 10-night cruise along the Western Australian coast including scenic cruising through the Kimberley and visits to Broome, Exmouth and Geraldton on a Pacific Eden cruise departing Fremantle on June 12, 2017.  Fares start from $1429* per person quad share.

Note to editors: The region’s largest and longest-serving cruise operator, P&O Cruises Australia leads the way in cruising as Australasia's only 'home brand' and its favourite cruise line. P&O Cruises has been sailing the region for more than 80 years, and has pioneered new destinations around Australia, the Pacific and Asia including Papua New Guinea, as reported in the New York Times’ 52 top destinations for 2015.  P&O Cruises is the nation’s largest cruise line with five ships cruising from eight home ports in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. In November 2015 Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden were added to the cruise line’s existing three-ship fleet and in 2017 P&O Cruises will welcome its latest ship – Pacific Explorer. In another milestone, P&O will become the first cruise line to build a ship specifically for the local market, launching a brand new 135,500-tonne ship in 2019 - the biggest cruise ship ever to be based fulltime in Australia.
