Countdown is on to P&O Cruises' Five Ship Extravaganza
Wednesday, November 26, 2014
One year out from its historic five ship spectacular in Sydney Harbour, P&O Cruises has revealed that entertainment across its expanded fleet will take a bold new direction with dreamlike party nights and innovative new offerings set to transform each ship into a thriving entertainment precinct.
Charged with the multimillion dollar assignment of coming up with onboard offerings to fit P&O Cruises’ ‘Like No Place On Earth’ positioning, Sture Myrmell, Vice President Hotel Operation for Carnival Australia, which represents P&O Cruises, said the next generation of onboard entertainment would have the ships pulsing to a new beat.
“New party nights that make use of more great areas around each ship will add to the dreamlike quality of cruising and, in this new realm, big entertainment attractions are likely to happen anywhere onboard,” Mr Myrmell said.
Fresh from scouring US entertainment capitals for inspiration, P&O Cruises Entertainment Director Brett Annable said he was exploring ways to implement cutting edge special effects that made audiences feel as though they were part of the show.
“We’re looking at how we can bring the latest mind-blowing technology from Las Vegas and Broadway to sea, which is very much in keeping with P&O Cruises’ reputation for innovation,” Mr Annable said.
“Big production shows, which have been synonymous with P&O cruising, will still feature in the entertainment line-up but we will be taking them to a whole new dimension employing techniques and special effects that will have the whole ship buzzing for our guests.”
Mr Annable’s previous successes at P&O Cruises include the introduction of the ‘Circus’ showroom production featuring life-sized elephant animations and P&OEdge Adventure Park.
