Are there food items and drinks that are prohibited?
P&O Cruises' ships can cater for most tastes, likes and dislikes, as well as specific dietary requirements. If you are looking to bring certain items with you onboard, there are some restrictions.
If you have any special dietary requests, please ensure you advise your travel agent or our Customer Sales & Service team when you make your cruise booking or at least 60 days prior to your cruise departure. We also recommend you speak to the maître d’ once you are onboard to confirm your dietary requirements. For more information please ask for a copy of our special dietary information flyer.
The following items cannot be brought onboard:
- Raw nuts and seeds.
- Meat.
- Home baked goods.
- Bottled [Glass or plastic.] water or other bottled drinks. [Including cordial.]
- Tetra packs. [Example: fruit juice poppers.]
- Slabs or cartons of canned drinks.
- Alcoholic beverages of any kind.
- Herbs and spices. [In line with Quarantine laws, plant based items are not allowed onboard.]
- Any pre-prepared meals. [Example: Halal or kosher meals.]
Under Australian and Customs and Quarantine regulations, it is strictly forbidden to remove food from the ship when guests return from their cruise.
Removing food from the ship in any of our ports is also strictly forbidden under these laws.
