What health care is available onboard and how do I access it?
Each ship has a dedicated team of medical staff operating the onboard medical centre to serve general health care needs for guests and crew.
We hope that you will not need them, however if you require medical attention during your cruise, our highly trained medical staff of doctors and nurses in our onboard medical centres provide a wide range of services to guests on a fee for services basis, which is comparable to Australian private medical charges.
It's important to be aware that our onboard medical centres are outside the scope of Australian Medicare, New Zealand Accident Compensation Corporation, and private health insurance. All charges for consultations (including assessment for COVID-19), treatments and medication must be paid by for while onboard, and may be able to be claimed through your travel insurance.
Our onboard Medical Centres are open set times during the day, and you can find these opening hours published in your room and in the P&O app. They are also available 24 hours a day for emergencies by dialling 000 from an onboard telephone.
