Wewak Highlights

Take in the sights of Wewak on this 2 hour guided scenic tour of the region. Depart the wharf and head out of town to the top of Mission Hill. Mission Hill is a memorial to the brave soldiers that fought in World War II. Our next stop is the Japanese Gun mounts. The area of Wewak and a number of islands off the coast were occupied by the Japanese for some time during the war and heavy artillery was sheltered into the mountainside in case a defense of the area was needed at any point in time. Travel down to the hill to St Mary's School where the school children wait to sing a few songs.. You will have approximately 30 minutes to enjoy time at the school mingling amongst the children. Our last stop is Chambri Markets were there will be the opportunity to purchase local handicraft so make sure you have some local currency with you. All in all this tour offers a great insight into Wewak, its inhabitants and the gorgeous tropical setting that surrounds the township.
