Dive into the cultural hot pot of Wewak with a visit to the Maur cultural village - a typical cultural village of PNG happy to open its doors to you for the day.
Depart the wharf and drive through Wewak and out to Maur which lies approximately 30 minutes outside of Wewak township. On arrival be greeted by the village community who will perform a welcome and traditional dance presentation. Then, take a casual walk through the village past the villager's houses and through the many functional gardens. One of the villagers will have their house open for those wanting to take a quick peek inside. Continue your walk out to a local stream where there will be the time to stop and enjoy a refreshing coconut and banana. There is also the opportunity, for those willing, to quickly jump in the river to cool off by taking a refreshing dip.
Back in the village enjoy a presentation of the uses and processing of sago before jumping back in your vehicle for your scenic drive back to the wharf.

To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and SPF30+ or higher factor sunscreen. Make sure to bring swimmers, a towel, and bottled water.
Local roads may be unpaved, bumpy and dusty; passengers with back conditions should take this into consideration.
