Certified Dive - The President Coolidge

Divers and history buffs - don’t miss the chance to explore an intriguing piece of WWII history on a certified dive to the largest, most intact shipwreck in the world. From 1931 to 1941 the SS President Coolidge sailed as a luxury passenger liner along the Sunshine Route. During WWII, in 1941, the vessel was converted into a troop carrier and went into service with the American Army. On the morning of 26 October 1942, President Coolidge struck two mines on her approach to Espiritu Santo and the order was given to abandon the vessel as she sank. Today President Coolidge is known by many as a ‘wreck divers dream’ and attracts divers from all over the world. The wreck is home to a wide variety of soft and hard corals, trigger fish, lion fish, nudibranchs and a resident moray eel. Most of the vessel's cargo is still contained in the holds of the ship, making this a truly fascinating dive into history.
