The most cosmopolitan city in the Pacific Islands, Noumea offers a flavour of Europe matched with tropical island scenery and landmarks galore. Take in some of the city sights and visit the state-of-the-art aquarium on this city tour.
Your tour begins as you board the coach and depart the wharf. Drive past stately colonial style homes and the colourful Place des Cocotiers (coconut tree square). Watch for the military barracks and follow the scenic waterfront drive of Promenade Vernier before heading to the historic fortifications at La Ouen Toro Hill. From this vantage point you’ll enjoy stunning views of Noumea and the coastline.
Next, journey through Anse Vata, past the popular beach, to the newly refurbished, state-of-the-art Noumea Aquarium. Here, you can see the rare prehistoric nautilus, delicate sea horses, colourful tropical fish, sea turtles, stingrays and reef sharks, and enjoy a special ‘black light’ exhibit room that illuminates beautiful fluorescent corals. You might even spot a Napoleon fish (well, Noumea is part of France after all).
