Home to crystal clear waters, diverse marine life, the world’s second largest coral reef and the world’s largest (and world heritage listed) lagoon, it’s pretty safe to say Noumea is a mighty fine snorkelling destination.
Your tour begins as you join your guide for a short walk to a 35-foot catamaran. Then you’re off on a 30-minute boat ride over the lagoon, headed to one of Noumea’s top marine park snorkelling destinations – either Signal Island, Laregnere Islet or Master Island, depending on the conditions. Gear up, dive in and enjoy approximately one hour in the water.
The calm, crystal-clear waters in the lagoon off Noumea are a sanctuary for some amazing, colourful marine life. Keep your eyes open to spot a stunning variety of tropical fish, colourful corals and maybe even a sea turtle. The lagoon, which is the largest in the world, has been listed as a World Heritage site since 2008.
To protect your camera from sand and sea, consider purchasing a waterproof disposable camera from your ship's Essentials or Photo, Video and Tech Store. Otherwise, pack your camera in a waterproof bag.
Enjoy a short tea/coffee break before heading back to Noumea.
The snorkel location will be chosen by your skipper depending upon the conditions of the day. Snorkel, mask, fins and wetsuit are provided. Age restrictions apply: minimum age is 6 years, maximum age is 70 years. To ensure your adventure is as enjoyable as possible please wear your swimsuit under your clothing, bring a towel, a hat, plenty of sunscreen and bottled water.
