Fiji Museum & Thurston Gardens

Experience the sights and sounds of Fiji's capital. You’ll board your motorcoach for a scenic ride though Suva. Traveling through Suva’s busy downtown district, you’ll arrive at Government House, the official residence of the President of the Republic of Fiji. After your visit, you’ll continue past the Walu Bay industrial area, reaching Tamavua Heights, one of Suva's nicest suburbs, for stunning panoramic views of Suva Harbor and Lathala Bay. Your guide will point out the National Sporting Centre, home of the 2003 South Pacific Games, the University of the South Pacific main campus, the Parliament House building, and both the British and American Embassies. After a pause for refreshments, you’ll continue on to the Fiji Museum, nestled within the Thurston Gardens. Inside the oldest museum in the South Pacific, you’ll find exhibits ranging from war canoes to the shoes of an unfortunate missionary eaten by cannibals! Special Notes: • Wear comfortable warm-weather clothing and walking shoes. Please fill your water bottle before leaving the ship.
