Oolala Island Day Cruise

Board the Oolala, a 60-foot vessel named after the song of the local mermaids and view waterfront villas, neighbouring islands and mountain ranges as you leave the marina. Your captain will highlight historical sights and points of interest along the way. Savala Island is an uninhabited 1.5-acre island surrounded by a pristine white sandy beach. After anchoring, take a glass-bottom boat to the island. Here you can choose from guided snorkel tours exploring colourful coral gardens, a glass-bottom boat ride and kayak adventures, or simply relax on the beach with views over the sparkling blue water to nearby tropical islands. Here, you’ll witness one of the most honoured rites of Fijian life, the ceremonial preparation for drinking kava. Used at births, marriages, deaths and new chief ceremonies, Kava is a tranquilizing, non-alcoholic drink which numbs the tongue and lips. Derived from the dried roots of the pepper plant, it’s an intriguing ritual and an acquired taste. Then, continue to the famous orchid Garden of the Sleeping Giant, with a magnificent mountain backdrop (Sleeping Giant).
