Please note Kava is a non-alcoholic beverage used traditionally in the Pacific Islands for ceremonial purposes. Formed by the root of the pepper tree Kava usually has a mildly sedative and anaesthetic effect, although it is possible to have adverse reactions including upset stomach. The traditional method of preparing kava does not meet P&O Cruises standard of health and safety and any participation in trying kava is at the risk of the individual.
