The scenic journey from the ship to Wai-O-Tapu is approximately 95 minutes each way.
Photography may be restricted within some areas of Wai-O-Tapu and passengers may be asked to remove their hats during the Maori ceremonies. The sequence of the tour may vary. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes as terrain is uneven in places. As with all geothermal regions, the smell of hydrogen sulphide permeates the atmosphere although it is not harmful to breathe.
