Glow Worm Kayaking & Thermal Hot Pool

Paddle onto Lake Rotoiti and view beautiful expansive scenery, geothermal vents, pass classic Kiwi baches (holiday homes) and abundant birdlife towards the glow worm cave. Kayak into a little known small cave with a hidden entrance, about 20 metres deep to view a small number of glow worms. Exit and paddle across to the Manupirua thermal hot pools, only accessible by water. Enjoy a well-earned break and a 30 minute soak in the hot waters while taking in the breathtaking landscape of Rotoiti. Highly trained knowledgeable guides will tell you about the area, local Maori history and legends, and glow worms. This is a soft-adventure activity, adopt an adventurous perspective and you’ll have a great time. The weather will not spoil your overall enjoyment, in fact the glow worms are at their brightest in damp conditions and the hot pools feel the best. Special Notes: No previous kayaking experience is required, but a very good level of fitness & mobility is needed, as you will be paddling for 2 hours, sometimes in breezy conditions requiring sustained strenuous exertion. Due to these physical requirements this tour isn’t suitable for less physically capable guests Please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, plenty of biodegradable sunscreen and bring bottled water. You will need swimwear & towel for the hot pools. A change of clothing for after kayaking is recommended. Shorts are recommended for kayaking, no jeans please. Travel between Tauranga to Lake Rotoiti is approx. 1 hour 15 minutes each way. Guests must be aged 8+ years to participate on tour
