E-Bike & Wine

You will be transported the short distance from the port to your cycle tour start point on Napier’s Marine Parade. Here you will change vans and be driven to Waitangi Regional Park. Hear the stories and learn about Atea a Rangi ‘Star Compass’ and learn how our oldest ancestors arrived on our shores using the stars, moon and sun to navigate their Waka (canoes) across the ocean from Polynesia. You then join your guide and be set up on your comfortable Touring E-Bike and given a safety briefing and explanation on how to use the controller, gears, brakes etc. Start cycling south on the wonderful Hawke's Bay Trail (which is a dedicated walking and cycling pathway) following the coast to enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and Cape Kidnappers in the distance. You cycle on a hard and flat limestone trail for a distance of about three miles to the village of Clive, with stops for commentary along the way, before arriving at the beautiful East Clive Wetlands area you can observe the many native, rare birds that inhabit the area. On reaching the mouth of Tuki Tuki River you cross and turn back toward the coast. Arriving in the small coastal community of Te Awanga, a cycle of about four miles from Clive, you can look forward to your well-deserved winery visit. The final half mile or so of the cycle then brings you to a Winery & Restaurant, the venue for today’s wine tasting and light meal. Savour the tastes of meditteranean at the estate’s iconic restaurant, an eatery that has been winning fans since its opening. After your wine tasting, it will be time to leave the coastal vineyard and return to the wharf by van or coach.
