Cycling Napier's Rotary Pathway

Start your cycle adventure in the Sunken Gardens on Marine Parade. Gear up with a comfortable Scott touring bike and after a short safety briefing, you’ll be on your way. Follow your guide and pedal south on the wonderful ‘water trail’, a dedicated walking and cycling path which follows the coast and forms part of Nga Haerenga or the New Zealand Cycle Trail. Stop to view highlights and points of interest along the way and enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the cliffs of Cape Kidnappers in the distance. After approximately 11 km, turn inland at Awatoto and cycle on a raised limestone trail through market garden country, following the Tutaekuri River to Taradale. See the vineyards, fruit trees and vegetable fields, which are an important part of the region’s economy. Your cycle adventure ends in Taradale on the banks of the Tutaekuri River with views of the historic Otatara Maori Pa site high on the hill. Cool your feet in the water before returning to your ship.
