Speights Brewery & Otago Museum

Enjoy a tour, tasting and lunch at famous Speight’s Brewery; then, explore the South Island’s unique Otago Museum. A scenic drive from Port Chalmers brings us to Speight’s Brewery for an award-winning, interactive tour. You’ll see, smell, touch, and taste the ingredients that go into Speight’s beers and learn how the traditional brewing process has informed local life. Afterward, enjoy a sampling of Speight’s beers before your delicious two-course pub lunch. At the Otago Museum, delve into the Southern Land Southern People gallery, your guide will share stories about the Maori of Te Waipounamu and Otago’s early European settlers. You will also have some free time to delve into the South Island’s prehistoric natural and cultural history, admiring fossils and prehistoric artifacts including ten articulated skeletons of moa, a now-extinct giant flightless bird. En route back to your ship, you’ll see impressive Victorian buildings including Otago University, Dunedin Law Courts, the Otago Boys High School and the Dunedin Railway Station.
