Cruises to Dunedin - Port Chalmers
Dunedin - Port Chalmers
The port of call for Dunedin
A charming historic city that stretches around a long and beautiful harbour, sheltered by the stunning Otago Peninsula.
The discovery of gold inland from Dunedin hastened the city’s development and endowed it with the best Victorian and Edwardian architecture outside Britain. The city is home to New Zealand’s only castle, the neo- Gothic-style Larnach Castle, as well as the country’s oldest university and longest surviving newspaper, The Otago Daily Times. Dunedin has a youthful and vibrant arts, cafe and bar scene, which provides a lively and edgy atmosphere. The city was settled by Scottish pioneers in 1848 who were looking to create a home away from home. In fact, Dunedin is the Celtic name for Edinburgh.
