Southern Safari Tour

The Southern Safari tour is a six hour 4WD coach tour which takes you to the very picturesque southern part of Moreton Island. Departing the resort, you will travel across the Middle Road to the very scenic untamed beaches on the ocean side of Moreton Island. Stopping at historic Rouse Battery for morning tea, you will discover where the battlements were built during WW11 and where soldiers were based on lookout for enemy ships threatening the east coast of Australia. Continue onto Mirapool Lake for a stopover and then drive through to Kooringal - the southern most township on Moreton Island. Lunch will be held at the famous Gutter Bar where a choice of prawns OR oysters OR rib fillet OR seafood combo OR fish and chips OR crumbed calamari and salad OR sweet potato and lentil patties with salad will be served. Kids menu available as well. Kids menu is cheeseburger and chips OR chicken nuggets and chips OR fish and chips. Please note meals must be ordered in advance. After lunch with weather and tides permitting, head to the southern most part of the island and see the tip of North Stradbroke Island. Begin the journey back to Tangalooma Island Resort and visit the Big Sandhills and see the wrecks of the Normandy and Fairlight ships along the way.
