Snorkelling the Wrecks

Moreton Island is home to one of Australia’s best snorkelling locations, 15 awesome ship wrecks which are home to a large variety of tropical reef fish, brightly coloured coral and marine life. These ships were scuttled by the Queensland Government between 1963 and 1984 to provide safe anchorage on the eastern side of Moreton Island for small watercraft. Coral has now formed in and around the wrecks forming an artificial reef. Dive in and explore this dramatic snorkelling site. You’ll see brightly coloured corals, come face to face with tropical reef fish (over 200 species of fish call the wrecks home!) and you might even spot a wobbegong, octopus, puffer fish, stingray or a sea turtle. Special Notes: - To make your day as enjoyable as possible, please ensure that you wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket and bring along some sunscreen and bottled water and of course your swimwear and towel. - All snorkeling equipment including fins, snorkel, mask, full length wetsuit is included. You are more than welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer (full snorkel face mask not reccommended). Wetsuits are required to be worn by all guests to participate in this activity with a full range of sizes available for children and adults. - Suitable for guests using wheelchair – beach wheelchair is available to help guests board the boat. Guests with Asthma may find this excurision difficult. - A parent or guaradian must be participating with any guests 16 years of age or younger, a parent or guardian must be present for check-in for all guests under the age of 18. - Pregnant guests are required to obtain a medical clearance/doctors note specifying they are medically cleared to participate in the snorkel tour, a physical or digital copy of the doctors note must be available at tour check-in and must be current within the last 6 months. This will be required for any in-water or hire activity; guests are encouraged to have their doctors’ note cover all activities they are interested in.
