Explore a world under the sea

Home to 15 dramatic shipwrecks teeming with tropical reef fish and brightly coloured coral, Tangalooma is a haven for snorkelling enthusiasts. The wrecks, which were scuttled by the Queensland government to provide safe anchorage for small boats on the eastern side of the island, are now home to an artificial reef that abounds with fascinating marine life. Join the Snorkelling the Wrecks Shore Tour to explore this underwater wonderland and keep an eye out for dolphins, wobbegongs, or dugongs playing nearby. Don’t feel like getting wet? Book into the Moreton Bay Aquatic Marine Park Cruise Shore Tour instead and observe the colourful coral and marine life from the comfort of a barge-style glass bottom boat. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to spot turtles, stingrays, sharks - and more!

Did You Know?

Between 1963 and 1984, the Queensland Government deliberately sunk 15 ships on the eastern side of Moreton Bay to create the Tangalooma Wrecks – a safe harbour for small watercraft in the area. Today, more than 200 species of marine life call the area home.
