Coonawarra Discovery

Tasting wine in one of Australia's premium wine growing regions is without a doubt the best way to spend the day. Join your local host for today’s expedition. Coonawarra - is an Aboriginal word meaning 'honeysuckle' - just 75 mins away from the Port of Robe! As you arrive into the countryside your first stop is a visit to the cellar door of Wynns Coonawarra Estate. Treat your tastebuds with a taste from their current release wines. Next, head off to the Rymill cellar door. Unique to this location are various sculptures and works of art that are proudly displayed including two magnificent bronze stallions. The next stop is Patrick of Coonawarra where the tastebuds are sure to be pleased. Patrick of Coonawarra has an exceptional reputation for producing Riesling, securing several trophies, gold medals and exceptional reviews in recent years. Today you'll taste a selection of their quality offerings. After your wine tasting you'll no doubt have worked up an appetite so it’s off to the local Penola area and the Prince of Wales hotel. Enjoy approximately 1 hour at leisure where you can have "lunch on your own". There are plenty of traditional pub dishes to choose from both light and hearty options (please remember to take local currency to purchase lunch and additional refreshments).
