Rainforestation Nature Park

Board your motorcoach at the pier and enjoy a scenic drive into the Kuranda Mountain range. Along the way you'll be delighted with views of Cairns, fields of sugar cane, and the Coral Sea. Once on the plateau, travel through lush rain forest and past fern gullies to Rainforestation. Situated on over 100 acres of spectacular World Heritage rain forest, Rainforestation National Park offers a wonderful array of eco-friendly attractions designed to celebrate the history and beauty of the natural surroundings. Here you will have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of exciting activities. You haven't truly experienced a tropical rainforest until you've seen it from a DUCK! Climb aboard an Amphibious World War II Army Duck for a totally unique perspective. Your knowledgeable Duck Captain will identify all the fascinating plants and wildlife on land as you pass by, before you splash into the lake for a cruise, with plenty more wildlife to be seen. The Army Duck Tour also includes a tour of the Tropical Fruit Orchard. The colorful and fragrant orchards display over 40 different varieties of exotic tropical fruit trees. This is an ideal opportunity to touch and taste the exotic fruits of Tropical North Queensland and from around the world. In the Wildlife Park, hand feed the free roaming kangaroos and take a walk along a series of elevated boardwalks for up close and personal views of koalas, crocodiles, wombats and other Australian wildlife. Then experience Aboriginal culture as you stroll along the Dreamtime Walk where you can try your hand at boomerang throwing or observe spear throwing and didgeridoo playing. A special Aboriginal cultural center stocks a wide range of authentic artwork and artifacts. Then visit the Rainforestation Amphitheater, where the Pamagirri Dancers perform traditional chants, music, dance and songs. At the end of your adventurous day you will have free time to browse the park's gift shop for a uniquely Australian memento of your visit before re-boarding the motorcoach for a scenic drive back to port.
