Devil Tracker Eco Tour

Join a unique “behind the scenes” daytime tour into the secret world of wild Tasmanian devils to learn about the battle to save the last isolated population of healthy devils on Earth. After a short trip in a specially equipped Land Rover the expert guide will take you on a short bushland walk to demonstrate how they are using infra-red night-time cameras to monitor the local devils and other wildlife. Then it is back to the Devil Tracker Station to check the images captured on camera to see what the local wild devils have been up to during the previous night. You will see how they identity each wild devil, find out what they have been eating, whether or not it is a healthy specimen and when it is breeding. This fascinating project is critical in the vital battle to save the Tasmanian devil species which is under threat from a strange fatal disease. Fortunately the devils living in the forests of the isolated Tasman Peninsula are all healthy and the ultimate aim is to maintain the whole of the region as a disease-free sanctuary. Your Devil Tracker Eco-Tour includes a visit to the devils and other endemic animals in the Devil Unzoo.
