Devil Tracker Eco Tour

This unique behind the scenes daytime tour will give you a fascinating insight into the mysterious world of wild Tasmanian devils. Learn about the infra-red night time cameras used to monitor the Devils and visit the Devil Tracker Station before meeting some feisty Devils face to face at the Devil Unzoo. Your tour begins with a short trip in a specially equipped Land Rover before an expert guide will take you on a short bush walk to demonstrate how they are using infra-red night-time cameras to monitor the local devils and other wildlife. Then, at the Devil Tracker Station you’ll have the chance to see the images of wild local Devils captured during the previous night. Learn how each wild devil is identified, what they have been eating and how to tell if the animal is healthy. Conclude your tour with a visit to the Devil Unzoo where you can view Tasmanian Devils and other endemic animals. This fascinating project is critical in the battle to save the Tasmanian devil species which is under threat from a fatal disease. Fortunately the devils living in the forests of the isolated Tasman Peninsula are all healthy and the ultimate aim is to maintain the whole of the region as a disease-free sanctuary.
