Ever dreamt about swimming with a humpback whale? If you’re lucky enough to cruise into Mooloolaba during whale watching season, you can do just that. Boarding a catamaran, head out to sea and wait for these magnificent mammals to come into view. As a Sunshine Coast first, this humpback whale interaction relies upon strict guidelines to avoid disturbing these beautiful creatures. In a group of ten, you’ll be guided into the water along a floating line. Then, feel your pulse race as the curious whales come close and witness their breathtaking displays of breaching, lob tailing and pectoral fin slaps, and enjoy an experience unlike any other!
No flash photography is permitted, however you can bring your underwater camera, turn off the flash and capture these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
These encounters, while never guaranteed, are frequent during winter, and many whales are also sighted while the vessel is travelling.
Although the winter months can be a little cooler this is more than compensated by the clear water and chance of swimming with these amazing animals.
No weight belts, scuba gear or flash photography is permitted.
All guests must be fully able bodied, free from pre-existing medical conditions and a confident swimmer.
Operating July- November only.
Although every effort will be made, whale sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Whilst this tour is open to all competent swimmers, we highly recommend a minimum age of 6 years to participate. Rules and directions from staff must be strictly adhered to and participants are not allowed to let go of the rope at any time during the swim experience.
