Mt. Field National Park
Take an interesting guided tour at the Salmon Ponds Heritage Hatchery and Gardens. It’s the oldest trout hatchery in the southern hemisphere. The very first trout were raised here back in 1864 and were the base stock for trout swimming in streams and lakes in Australia and New Zealand today. Walk around the beautiful grounds and gardens, visit the hatchery and its museum and hand feed hatchlings in the fish ponds.
Visit Mt. Field National Park, one of Tasmania’s oldest national parks. A World Heritage listed site, you can walk amongst the world’s tallest hardwood trees and visit the spectacular Russell Falls.
