Experience the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef from Gladstone one of the Southern most parts of the gigantic reef system.
After a 15 minute walk you'll board a large Catamaran and embark on your days journey. Leaving Gladstone behind head out into the waters off the coast of Queensland toward the pristine reef.
The cruise to the Great Barrier Reef is approximately 2 hours each way and during this time morning tea is served and snorkeling equipment is provided. Both beginner and experienced snorkelers are welcomed and well catered for however you should have a moderate swimming ability as swimming is undertaken off the back of the boat. A full safety briefing is provided upon arrival at the reef mooring point. Don your mask, snorkel and fins and enter the water straight off the back of the boat via a set of stairs.
There is plenty of time for swimming and snorkeling and to explore the beautiful underwater wonderland. The reef system is home to a wide variety of marine animals, pretty hard and soft corals and some wonderful gorgonian fans. The reef attracts all sorts of resident species such as mackerel, rainbow runners,coral trout, gropers, a family of Maori wrasse along with turtles and tasselled wobbegongs. You'll have approximately 3 hours at the reef to enjoy and explore which also includes time for a delicious buffet lunch served on-board.
Remember to bring some cash for drinks and snack purchases during the day. Bring your towel, sunscreen, hat and warm,dry clothes for the return journey. Please come prepared with your swimsuit under your clothes as limited facilities are available to change on-board.
