First stop is Cervantes, a small fishing village named for an American whaling ship which wrecked nearby in 1844. Then, head south into the 1000-acre Nambung National Park, site of the mystical Pinnacles Desert. This yellow quartz sand desert features a forest of mysterious pillars (varying in height from mere centimetres to 6+ metres!) created by millions of years of complex interaction between lime, sand, wind and rain. Enjoy a narrated drive of this awe-inspiring desert scene and take free time to wander among the magnificent formations on your own. Keep a keen eye out for a possible glimpse of the park's animals such as emus and kangaroos.
