Wildlife and Eden Killer Whale Museum

Venture to Potoroo Palace where you'll love meeting the family of Australian animals including their namesake the long nosed Potoroo. You'll find many of Australia’s favourite natives on site including Kangaroos and koala, echidnas, wombats and cockatoos at this not for profit native animal educational sanctuary. Koalas and long-nosed potoroos were once abundant in the region but are now very rarely seen in the wild. The wildlife sanctuary was founded to protect the local wildlife and by visiting your entry fee helps with the local conservation and education efforts. On the drive from Merimbula back to Eden, you will visit the Eden Killer Whale Museum. Eden was established as the first shore side whaling station on mainland Australia and it became famous for its killer whales. In the 1920s and ’30s, Twofold Bay and the area around Eden were home for a group of killer whales led by a large whale known to locals as Tom. Learn more about the whales and this fascinating era at the museum. Take in spectacular coastal views of the bay from the gallery.
