Life On The Farm - Kameruka Estate

Visit Kameruka Estate, established in 1834 and one of the first European settlements in the Bega Valley. Its founders, the Tooth family of brewing fame, developed a community modelled on an English style estate covering tens of thousands of acres. Today Kameruka is a working sheep and cattle station. See the farm's resident sheep dog round up a mob of sheep and watch a sheep shearing demonstration in the original shearing shed. Visit the Holy Trinity Church, established in 1869, see the cemetery and war memorial dedicated to the locals who died in the World Wars. Doolin's Stone, built in 1908, was the first monument in NSW to commemorate an Aboriginal person. Tom Doolin was Kameruka's Huntsman and Master of the Hounds and was instrumental in the property's early success.
