Join Captain Sponge, learn about oyster farming in the area, its history, modern techniques and biology. Your tour encompass the many aspects of oyster farming from catching of ''spat'' through to the different methods used for growing oysters and onto the production of market oysters and of course you'll get to taste the goods! Sample the world renowned Pambula Lake Sydney Rock oyster straight from the pristine waters and have a go at shucking your own. Next, get a crash course in oyster husbandry and inspect the native Angasi species of oyster which are also grown on the farm. Then, it is time to set sail downstream to the scenic meandering Pambula River before stopping to see how the catching of oysters is done before heading back to the jetty.
Captain Sponge is not only a very experienced oyster farmer, but he is also a well-known local personality who will keep you fascinated with his tales throughout the trip.
Back on dry land bid farewell to Captain Sponge and venture back aboard the coach for your return transfer to the pier.
