Rainforestation Nature Park & Skyrail Cableway

Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach at Yorkey's Knob, one of the northern beach suburbs of Cairns. You'll cross the Barron River and ascend the rainforest slopes of the Kuranda Range while enjoying views of Cairns, the surrounding cane fields and the Coral Sea. Once on the plateau, you'll travel through the lush rainforest and pass fern gullies to Rainforestation National Park, a unique tourist attraction set on 100 acres in the midst of the rainforest. At the park, you'll set out to explore the rainforest on an amphibious "Army Duck" as your knowledgeable guide explains the mysteries of this ancient ecosystem. You'll feed kangaroos and see koalas, crocodiles, wombats and other Australian wildlife, and stroll along the Dreamtime Walk. Here, you'll witness spear throwing and didgeridoo playing, and try your hand at boomerang throwing. You'll then make your way to the Rainforestation Amphitheater, where the Pamagirri Dancers perform traditional chants, music, dance and songs. Enjoy an Aussie BBQ at the Rainforeststation's Outback Restaurant, and have free time to browse in the gift shop. Next, you'll take to the sky aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Voted Australia's Best Major Tourist Attraction, the multi-award winning Skyrail is recognized not only as a premier tourist experience, but as a world leader in eco-tourism, offering a truly unique rainforest experience available no where else in the world. You'll board a six-passenger gondola and glide over the rainforest canopy, traveling through Barron Gorge, and passing Stoney Creek Falls and the spectacular, 800-foot Barron Falls. Your adventure includes time at two mid-stations where you can alight from the cableway to explore the rainforest along the paved walkways. Your tour concludes with a return drive back to Yorkey's Knob.
