Head south along the Flinders Peninsula, enjoy the picturesque scenery of King George Sound. The museum is the only one in the world created from a working whaling station. The original whaling station ceased operation in 1978 and now the museum faithfully depicts the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of an industry that supported an entire community.
Take a 30-minute guided tour, then you are free to explore on your own. Marvel at the world’s largest collection of original marine mammal paintings and the restored whale chaser Cheynes IV stands as the centrepiece of the exhibit.
Stroll along the Torndirrup National Park trail to the Gap and see the immense forces of nature at work.
