Glenelg Heritage Walking tour
Known as Adelaide’s ‘Premier Seaside Destination’ Glenelg is renowned for its rich heritage, spectacular beaches, stunning sunsets, cafes, museums and galleries. Its only 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and a favourite spot for the locals to unwind. Glenelg also holds a unique place in South Australian history. It was here that the first official immigrants disembarked and settled in 1836. Today experience this unique past while also enjoying the Glenelg of today.
Take a 1 hour guided walk with a local historian to visit the HMS Buffalo ship replica and an original Glenelg tram. Stroll to the Holdfast Shores Marina, Colley Terrace historic buildings, the Rotunda, Glenelg Jetty and Pioneer Memorial finishing at the Bay Discovery Centre. At the Discovery centre, a social history museum celebrating the culture of SA, you'll uncover the stories from the first inhabitants to the first European settlers along with a showcase of local art. Enjoy some free time to wander and perhaps grab some morning tea in a café before returning to the pier.
