Departing from the pier, you'll stop outside a palm oil plantation site, where your guide will explain the methods of harvesting, processing, storing and transporting palm oil. Currently, Malaysia exports more than 70% of the world's palm oil supply. Proceed to a small rubber tree plantation, where you learn about the process and end products of rubber making. Malaysia produces almost 20% of the world's natural rubber. Next, you will see a traditional Malaccan house-a splendid showcase of Malacca's 19th-century architectural and artistic style. Stop briefly for photos and souvenir shopping outside the Stadthuys. Built as the official residence for the Dutch governors and their officers, the Stadthuys is an excellent example of Dutch period architecture. Continue to visit the Porta de Santiago-a Portugese-built fortress-and St Paul's Church, where missionary St Francis Xavier was briefly interred in 1553. You will also view the Sultan's Palace-a replica of the original 15th-century palace of Malacca's now-extinct Sultanate. The palace houses the Culture Museum. Pause to snap some photos at the Straits Mosque before returning to the ship.
