This tour gives you the opportunity to experience the true Balinese way of life as you discover more about the culture, language, handicrafts and the traditional Balinese farming. Your tour begins with a visit to Subak Guliang, a traditional farming village in central Bali. A warm welcome awaits you and a traditional breakfast is served with Balinese coffee or tea. Here enjoy the rural activities and a welcome dance by local children. Wander through the local farms to experience the real life of Balinese farmers working in the rice fields, learn more about the simple and traditional irrigation system called Subak, the process of rice growing, from planting the seedlings, to harvesting and even cooking the rice. Next, proceed onto Kehen, Hindu temple complex, built in the 11th century, a series of steps leads to the entrance door where the demonic face of Kala Makara stands guard over the temple grounds. Following this fascinating local insight, continue on your way to Kintamani, where you can enjoy a delicious meal overlooking Mount Batur, an active volcano, and the picturesque Lake Batur, in the crater. Finally you will visit Kemenuh, the a wood carving studio is the perfect place to find skilled carvers turning slabs of teak and ebony wood into masks, religious figures and intricate wall decorations. These works can be as small as the palm of your hand, up to 3m tall! Before departing, guests have the opportunity to browse in the large gallery where you may purchase the finished products.
