5 fun cruise experiences for kids

Cruising with your kids is a fun, unique and convenient way to explore the world as a family. With a seemingly endless array of options, from adventure parks and Kids Clubs to tropical island shore tours, a cruise holiday is guaranteed to keep kids - and adults - of all ages entertained for days on end.

With so many exciting activities to be discovered, cruising is the perfect combination of relaxation, action, and family time - all while your family is transported from destination to destination, only needing to unpack once!

To help you plan your next family-friendly holiday, here are 5 fun cruise experiences for kids you should know about:

1. Waterslides to Adventure Parks

Whether you’re a family of Ian Thorpes or Ash Bartys, there’s a huge range of action-packed experiences available for kids onboard every P&O cruise.

Get splashy in our incredible interactive waterparks, or head to our amazing waterslides and pools for some fun in the sun. If you’re up for some extra adventure, join the adrenalin junkies at P&O Edge Adventure Park, available on all our ships. Kids can explore the funnel climb, cross the slackline, walk the plank and more.

Got a family of sports fans? Find out who’s the family champ at lawn bowls, table tennis, deck quoits, basketball or tennis - or even try your hand at laser tag!

Note that facilities across ships do vary.

2. Kids Clubs galore

Our Kid’s Clubs activities are the perfect balance of fun and education. With help from professional childhood academics, we’ve developed a diverse range of engaging daily activities specially designed for kids.

From arts and crafts to music and sports, we’ve got it all - plus, we are one of the only cruise lines that limits the number of children onboard to ensure each child receives an even higher level of care and attention.

Each program features specialised, age-specific activities:

●      Turtle Cove – (2 years – 5 years)

●      Shark Shack – (6 years – 9 years)

●      HQ – (10 years – 13 years)

●      HQ+ - (14 years – 17 years)

You’ll be able to rest easy knowing your kids are having a ball onboard. Our Kid’s Clubs are supervised by experienced youth staff, and younger children are also provided with toys, educational games and lots of fun activities.

Travelling with older kids? They’ll have plenty to do, too. Our HQ and HQ+ youth staff provide lots of exciting activities for guests aged 10 – 17. Kids can chill out in their own special lounge with video games, movies and music. It’s a great place to hang out, relax, and meet new friends.

3. Family dining at its finest

Enjoy quality time with your loved ones over great food and ocean views. P&O offer a huge choice of nutritious and delicious menu options for the whole family on every ship. Kids options are available at Waterfront, Angelo’s and Dragon Lady - plus the specials change regularly, so even the fussiest eaters will find something they love.

4. Razzle dazzle them

If you’ve got a young musician or movie star on your hands, P&O has got you covered. There’s plenty of opportunity for your kids to get creative, learn something new, or just enjoy a good show.

Our time to shine talent show provides kids the opportunity to take to the main stage and experience the lights, sound and action of a real life performer. Travelling with teenagers? Our Teen Jam program will help your kids hone skills - plus they can perform their jams for an audience!

TC & Skipper's Island Adventure Show will have your little ones rolling around with laughter as our hilarious mascots perform the fun TC & Skipper’s Island Adventure production show.

5. Shore tours are a sure win

Your kids will be amazed by the beautiful beaches, tropical adventures and colourful creatures they’ll encounter on our P&O Shore Tours. From exploring local markets and swimming under waterfalls to meeting adorable baby turtles, our Shore Tours have something for everyone - and it’s all organised for you.

Some Shore Tours offer children’s prices for ages 2 to 12 years, and infants aged less than 2 years sitting on a parent’s lap are not charged for the tour. Plus, small group tours with 25 or less guests are available for ultimate flexibility - guests can even choose their own private vehicle.
