Montevideo

Montevideo, Uruguay – port code MUD
Uruguay is notable for its delightful capital, Montevideo, with beautiful beaches only 20 minutes from the central business district, and its 200 miles of coastal resorts. Montevideo (Spanish for " I see a hill") is home to nearly half of the Country's population and is its cultural, economic and political center. Vacationers from all over the continent, including Rio, flock to the "Riviera of South America" to enjoy comfortable hotels and casinos, and sandy beaches for yachting, surfing, water skiing and mingling with the jet set at Punta del Este.

Uruguay, South America's second smallest country, has been described as a big city surrounded by a small ranch. The big city is Montevideo and the small ranch (estancia) refers to the rest of the country, 90% of which is devoted to grazing sheep and cattle. Today Uruguay is a democracy largely modeled on that of Switzerland.
