Money Matters
Currency Onboard our British Superliners
Sterling is the operating currency onboard Adonia, Aurora, Oceana and Oriana; therefore all prices and charges are in pounds sterling.
Banking Facilities and Purchases Onboard
The Reception Desk accepts both travellers cheques and personal cheques (supported by a cheque card). You might find you feel more secure taking money in the form of travellers cheques.
We also accept Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Diners and Delta cards onboard. However, we regret that we are unable to extend cash advances against these cards. Please note that we do not accept Switch cards onboard. Foreign currency for spending ashore may also be purchased from the Reception Desk. Details of currencies available and rates of exchange will be shown in the ship’s daily paper.
We suggest that you may wish to bring sufficient currency for your first port of call to avoid having to queue for this onboard. Our Reception Desk staff can only re-exchange notes of the same denomination as issued onboard. We regret that we are unable to exchange foreign coins.
For your convenience we operate a ’cash free’ system where you sign for all onboard purchases, and simply settle your account by cash, credit card, charge card or debit cards (not Switch) at the end of your cruise. Your onboard account is open from the moment you board the ship and all we require you to do is register your credit card with us at some time during the cruise.
As you embark, you will receive a Cruise Card which is both your onboard signing authority and security I.D card/access control card. It should be kept in a secure place and kept about your person at all times ashore. Please sign it immediately.
Please note that stamps are available for cash only at the Reception Desk.
Tipping
Recognising and rewarding excellent service in the form of ‘tipping’ the ship’s crew has long been a tradition at sea. It is simply your way of saying ’Thank you’ for the service you’ve received on your holiday. You’ll find a leaflet with some helpful guidelines in you cabin, but generally speaking about £3.50 per person per day will take care of your tips.
