Kona - Hawaii
While Oahu is one of the most important places to see in Hawaii, the Big Island of Hawaii and other outer islands are much more relaxed than Honolulu. The Big Island is famous for its active volcanoes and its countless varieties of orchids. Kona is on the western coast of the island and has more in the way of beach, fishing and resort activity than Hilo. The official language is English, although Hawaiian and Japanese are heard often as well as pidgin, a kind of shorthand English. Average temperatures in the mid-70's, summer in the 80's.
