Hiva Oa (hee-va o-ah) is the largest and most fertile island in the Marquesas group. Known for its deep valleys, lush plateaus, thickly wooded forests and summits in the mist of rain-filled clouds. Hiva Oa is located 740 miles northeast of Tahiti. The island's main town is Atuona.
