Explore Exotic Destinations and Unpack Just Once

Date: 08 Aug 2007

Australians who use planes, trains, coaches, hotels and taxis to explore the world are being offered the chance to roam the planet by luxury liner instead, with Princess Cruises unveiling 130 ports of call in its 2008-09 Exotics program.

The Australian brochure profiles 89 exotic voyages from seven to 107 nights between May 2008 and May 2009, with nine ships – from boutique liners to megaliners - covering all seven continents.

Highlights include maiden visits to Australia by three Princess ships, an unprecedented two world voyages, a trans-Pacific cruise to Australia on superliner Dawn Princess, three ships in South America, a spectacular cruise through Antarctica, new 10-night dream Tahiti cruises and special visits to Adelaide and Perth by the biggest ship ever to visit those cities – the huge 2670-passenger Diamond Princess.

“Princess Cruises sails to more destinations around the world than any other major line,” said Vice President Marketing for Princess Cruises in Australia, Mark Barnes. “Our passengers can live it up as they roam the seven seas in style without constant flights, packing and unpacking – and each day they wake to views of a new exotic part of the world. Cruising is probably the easiest, most relaxed and most affordable way to see a range of destinations in one holiday.”

Two of the Princess liners making their inaugural visits to Australia – sister boutique ships Tahitian Princess and Royal Princess – will each call at Burnie, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns in February 2009 as part of new 107-night world voyages from Florida to Europe. The visits represent the first time Princess has offered two world cruises, with fares aboard the 670-passenger liners available from A$28,629 per person*.

The third Princess ship visiting Australia for the first time, the 1950-passenger superliner Dawn Princess, will offer a special 31-night crossing of the Pacific from San Francisco to Sydney on September 24, 2008, before commencing a summer season of premium cruises from Sydney. The trans-Pacific itinerary will also available from Sydney back to San Francisco on April 18, 2009. Fares for the two voyages, which feature Hawaii, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Samoa, Fiji and New Zealand, are available from A$5429 per person*.

Former Australia-based premium liner, Pacific Princess, together with Royal Princess and Star Princess, will each offer itineraries in South America next year as the spectacular continent grows in popularity. Star Princess will offer scenic cruises around Cape Horn, the Falklands and through Antarctica while her sisters will trace the Amazon River or Panama Canal. A 12-night Cape Horn and Strait of Magellan cruise aboard Star Princess in January or February 2009 is available from A$2529 per person*.

The popular Tahitian Princess will offer a range of 10-night sojourns through her namesake islands from October-December next year, with fares available from just A$1979 per person* including six dreamy islands and all onboard meals and entertainment.

Meanwhile, December 2008 will see the return to Australia of the headline-making 116,000-ton megaliner Diamond Princess which will offer a summer season of 12-night voyages between Sydney and Auckland and also positional cruises between Asia and Australia. Her return to Asia will see her become the biggest ship to ever visit Adelaide and Perth on February 28 and March 3, 2009, respectively. Fares aboard Diamond Princess, which is more than 2½ times bigger than the Titanic, are available from A$2149 per person* for a 12-night cruise from Sydney to Auckland on December 12, 2008.

*Fares are cruise only, per person, in complete twin stateroom. Subject to availability. Conditions apply.
