Children

We want your whole family to have a wonderful holiday, so we provide a whole range of facilities and daily programmes for children and teenagers aboard Aurora, Oceana and Oriana. Although we are unable to take babies off your hands in the same way, we provide as many services as possible to make looking after them easy for you.

Adonia is a ship dedicated to adults; therefore, we do not accept children or teenagers under the age of 18.

At the start of your holiday, you’ll be invited to an informal meeting where our Youth Staff will explain the facilities provided in detail and outline the events planned for your children.

Age Restrictions

We try to keep restrictions to a minimum and we hope you’ll agree that they are straightforward and common sense.

If a child or young adult under 18 is traveling without either a parent or legal guardian, we do need an adult passenger prepared to be responsible for them onboard. We also need written permission from a parent/legal guardian stating who is responsible for them whilst onboard. This written permission must be brought on the cruise.

Unfortunately, we can’t allow babies under 6 months to travel on our cruises (one year for a full world or sector cruise).

Children’s Activities

The Children’s Clubs onboard will definitely be our younger cruisers' favourite place to be! Open every day of their cruise from 9.00am until 10.30pm, the Youth Staff will have lots of exciting activities and events planned to give them the holiday of a lifetime.

For Children aged 2-4, 5-8 and under-twos accompanied by a parent

Aurora, Oceana and Oriana have playrooms packed with ballpools and softplay areas, toys and games, books and craft materials. Each is open from 9.00am to 10.30pm and we arrange an extensive program of play, sport and entertainment. There are even outdoor play areas on Aurora and Oriana and a paddling pool on board Aurora, Oceana and Oriana.

Children under 2 years can of course use the club’s facilities and join in all the activities, but we do ask that a parent remain with them.

For children and teenagers 9-12 and 13-17 years

Club Aurora, Club Oceana and Club Oriana offer daily activity programmes. Each day there is a comprehensive range of organised sports, arts, crafts, competitions, workshops, theme evenings, quizzes and discos. Club Aurora and Club Oriana also have their own nightclubs with discos running into the early hours of the morning.

Supervised Night Nursery

In the evening, you don’t need to worry about small children (up to 5 years) as you can leave them in our supervised night nursery which operates from 6.00pm to 2.00am, though there is limited space on a “first come, first served” basis daily.

Dinner

Normally, your children will have breakfast and lunch with their parents. For dinner, we serve a special children’s tea at around 5.15pm. Actual timings will be shown in the ship’s newspaper. It’s an excellent idea – you can get the children fed, bathed and into bed before your dinner – and children love it too, because we offer a whole range of dishes just for them (sausages, fish fingers and more, as well as a main course from the evening’s restaurant menu). If you have any special requirements for your children, please speak with the Restaurant Manager.

Baby Necessities

Again, if your children are used to having you with them at meal times, we would like you to accompany them. Please bring all your baby’s bottles and nappies with you. We can provide heaters and sterilising equipment. To make sure we’ve got plenty of food for your baby, please let us know what you need at least a month in advance. We carry a limited stock milk formulas, juices and a range of strained and junior Baby Foods. Milk is always available. We stock disposable nappies, baby wipes and sterilising fluid in our shops, but we recommend that you bring a stock of your own.

Prams

For your own convenience we recommend that you bring a collapsible, lightweight pram or pushchair. We do have a small number of pushchairs available onboard Aurora, Oceana and Oriana, for use ashore or around the ship. However, we do request that certain parts of the open decks are kept as 'pram-free zones' for deck games, sun loungers and the general comfort of fellow passenters.

Swimming

We kindly ask that you supervise your children at all times when they’re swimming. The Terrace Pool on Aurora, Oceana and Oriana is reserved especially for children under 10 and their parents. Aurora, Oceana and Oriana has a separate paddling pool for toddlers. To help children learning to swim – or, indeed, nonswimmers – we have armbands.

All passengers may use the Crystal Pool on Aurora, Oceana and Oriana. However the Riviera Pools on Oriana and Aurora are exclusively reserved for adults over 16. Please refer to the Shipboard Services Directory for any changes.

Parent’s Responsibilities

We ask parents and/or guardians to remember that there are other passengers onboard and for this reason a few of the lounges and public rooms are “out of bounds” to passengers under 16.

We also ask parents and guardians to note that children under 16 must not be left unaccompanied on the ship whilst at a port of call.
