Casablanca
A mixture of French-designed boulevards and Muslim architecture, Casablanca is a bustling metropolitan center. Passengers may choose the option shore excursions to visit Rabat or Marrakech.
The gleaming white metropolis of Casablanca with a population of nearly 3 million is Morocco's largest city and renowned center of trade and industry, as well as the busiest port in North Africa. Immortalized by Hollywood as a city of intrigue and romance, Casablanca is an evocative blend of old and new, familiar and exotic and European and Arabian in a country possessing the geographic characteristics of the Atlantic, Mediterranean and North Africa.
From the old Medina, the original Arab settlement, with its network of narrow cobbled alleyways, whitewashed buildings and lively souks (markets) to its film setting like, French-built new Medina, with its ensemble of impressive Moorish buildings and metal souk, the Casablanca of old offers a captivating look at traditions uniquely Moroccan.
Founded at the beginning of the century, it is the country's principal commercial town, the second largest town in Africa and one of the continent's biggest ports.
In contrast to its bustling bazaars, crowded souks and atmospheric medinas, Casablanca offers a selection of fine beach resorts situated along its sunwashed corniche from Ain Diab to Mohammedia.
