Carnival Australia flies high and grabs top industry talent!

Carnival Australia has appointed one of the travel and tourism industry’s top executives, Qantas Holidays Group General Manager, Jenny Lourey, to the new position of Senior Vice President leading commercial operations as the business continues with plans to expand its fleet over the next 12 months.
Chief Executive Officer Ann Sherry said Jenny’s appointment was part of reshaping operations across the South Pacific to ensure the business was meeting the expectations of passengers and travel agents.
Jenny, who has more than 20 years experience in the travel and tourism industry, will be responsible for driving the strategic direction, growth and profitability of key functions including sales, marketing and shore operations.
“I am delighted that somebody of Jenny’s experience and calibre is joining the team in this new position which will play an important role as we aggressively grow and reshape our business in and ,” Ms Sherry said.
Carnival is part of Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise holiday company, and represents the industry’s iconic brands in the local market:P&O Cruises Australia, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises UK, Cunard Line, Costa Cruises and Seabourn.
Carnival has grown rapidly over the past three years and has further plans for expansion.
“Cruising delivers almost $440 million to the Australian economy each year and, as the fastest growing segment of the tourism industry, is increasing passenger numbers by about 18% per cent year,” Ms Sherry said.
“We are the country’s leading cruise company in the country’s most dynamic industry.This is a very exciting point in our development, and Jenny’s local and global knowledge of the travel and tourism industry will be invaluable as we continue to grow the business.”
Before becoming Qantas Holidays Group General Manager in 2006, Jenny spent about 13 years with British Airways in a range of senior positions responsible for the delivery of business in global markets.Jenny will join Carnival at the end of January.
