Aruba

Situated in the Southern Caribbean, Aruba offers unbroken sunshine, white sandy beaches, excellent water sports and is the perfect place to switch off and recharge your batteries. Come to the Netherlands Antilles for a taste of Dutch architecture and the chance to snorkel or swim in some of the Caribbean's most spectacular waters. Aruba's Dutch influence lazily lingers on in the island's official language and the languidly turning arms of white-washed windmills. Yet the "A" in the ABC Islands, once a member of the Netherlands Antilles, now stands independently, having gained autonomy in 1986. In fact, the some 70,000 Arubians have a number of origins, and they commonly speak Papiamento, a combination of Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, African and English. General Information
