Amedee Island

Amedee is a tiny island just 18 kilometres south of Noumea. It is only 400m long. A lighthouse was built on Amedee Island in 1865 and the operator and his family are the only authorised inhabitants of the island. Amedee is classified as a marine reserve and has numerous natural assets of biological interest and clear waters full of many varieties of fish.
