What do I need to prepare for my cruise?
- Advise us in writing of any medical condition/disability that you may have, including pregnancy at the time of booking.
- Advise us of any special dietary requirements that you may have at the time of booking.
- Read and understand the terms and conditions at the time of deposit.
- Arrange a travel insurance policy with P&O Cruises or your travel agent at the time of deposit at the time of deposit.
- Check your visa requirements with your relevant consulate, embassy or online visa service provider such as www.visalink.com.au or www.travcour.co.nz at least 75 days prior to your departure.
- Verify with your doctor if any vaccinations are required for your cruise.
- Ensure that you passport or government issued photo identification is valid for 6 months beyond the date of the cruise return. Please note, Australian residents do not need a passport or visa for any cruise that does not visit a foreign port; however, government issued photo identification is required (Queensland Proof of Age cards will not be accepted).This is to be completed 45 days prior to departure.
Pre-reserve your shore tours via 'Cruise Personliser' at pocruises.com.au or pocruises.co.nz. This can be done at any time from 75 days to 10 days prior.

- Abaft
Toward the stern, relative to some object ("abaft the fore hatch").
- Abeam
On the beam, a relative bearing at right angles to the centerline of the ship's keel.
- Dayboard
The daytime identifier of an aid to navigation presenting one of several standard shapes (square, triangle, rectangle) and colors (red, green, white, orange, yellow, or black).
- Handy billy
A loose block and tackle with a hook or tail on each end, which can be used wherever it is needed. Usually made up of one single and one double block.
- Astern
Any distance behind a ship, as opposed to A-Head.
- Beating to windward
Making progress against the direction of the wind, by steering alternately close-hauled on the starboard and larboard tacks.
- Shallow, not deep.
- Water line
The line made by the water's edge when a ship has her full proportion of stores on board.
- Under the lee of the shore
Close to the shore, which lies to windward of the ship.
- Fresh away
When your ship increases its velocity.
