P&O Cruises has proved just how friendly a cruise holiday is, with the cruise line today reaching a major milestone of 100,000 Facebook fans.
Since launching its Facebook page in June 2009, P&O Cruises has built a massive online community of followers who engage with each other, and the cruise line, about their holiday experiences.
The growth of the Facebook page has been particularly rapid in the past year, with P&O Cruises doubling from 50,000 “likes” in November 2011 to reach six figures less than nine months later.
Fans of P&O Cruises use the page to share their cruise stories and holiday snaps, while learning more about the cruise line’s latest offerings.
The Facebook page also offers exclusive P&O Cruises’ apps as well as the chance to connect with other passengers on your cruise through event groups.
Simon Cheng, Director of Marketing at Carnival Australia which operates P&O Cruises, said the cruise line was very excited to reach the landmark number.
“At one point we had thought that we might hit 100,000 by the end of this year, but the growth of our Facebook community in recent months has been incredible. We’re thrilled to reach six figures so soon,” Mr Cheng said.
“Our passengers are outgoing and social, so Facebook is the perfect forum for them. Not only do they discuss their past cruises, but they count down the days until their next cruise online together and experienced passengers provide plenty of advice to new cruisers.
“We can’t wait to welcome even more people onboard our Facebook page in the months ahead.”
